about

Edmond Rodriguez is a singer and actor from Miami, FL, praised for his “pure, guileless high range” (The Boston Globe). His eclectic career spans classical music, art song, opera, musical theater, and film and television music.

A 2022 fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center marked a significant milestone for Rodriguez. His portrayal of the Young King in the American premiere of George Benjamin’s Lessons in Love and Violence, as conducted by the composer, was lauded for its “frightening dignity” (The New York Times), revealing the depth of his dramatic interpretation.

Rodriguez has demonstrated a commitment to contemporary music. In 2021, he premiered a commissioned work by Derrick Skye in Pasadena, CA, followed by Skye’s AI Opera, Song of the Ambassadors, at REDCAT in 2022, and an excerpt at the 2023 TED Conference. A recent debut with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Steve Reich’s Traveler’s Prayer in 2023 speaks to his passion for championing new music.

A 2023 solo debut in Handel’s Messiah at Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Master Chorale sparked his interest in oratorio and concert work. Rodriguez joined this noted chorus again the following year, performing Mozart’s arrangement of Handel’s Messiah.

On stage, Rodriguez has embodied a diverse array of roles, including Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Oronte in Alcina, the Young King in Lessons in Love and Violence, Thomas Edison in A Fragile Filament, Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Le Pêcheur in Le Rossignol, the Man with the Old Luggage in Postcard from Morocco, and La Rainette in L’Enfant et les Sortileges.

Beyond classical music, Rodriguez is a sought-after session singer in the Los Angeles film, pop, and television industries. His voice is featured in films such as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Encanto, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Nope, and  Wicked. He has performed as a backing vocalist for Aloe Blacc, the Rolling Stones, and Rosalia’s album Motomami. Television credits include Grown-ish, Hunters, as well as a solo for HBO Max’s Ten Year Old Tom.

In 2024 Rodriguez made his Carnegie Hall debut as a Young Artist for the SongStudio program led by Renée Fleming. Later this year he will debut with Lang Lang and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, performing selections from Lang Lang’s  album, The Disney Book.

His training includes fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Center, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, and Glimmerglass Festival.
